World Series Champions

Congratulations to the Gulf Coast Surge, an 8-aa Coach Pitch tournament team from Gulfport, Mississippi.  They beat a field of twenty (20) teams to win the USSSA World Series held in Sulphur, Louisiana, July 7-11, 2010.

The Surge (31-8 in class, one of three hundred and sixty 8-AA teams in the nation) fought through the losers bracket winning seven games in a row in this double elimination tournament to defeat the Cy-Fair Thunderclaps, 15 - 14.  Along the way the Surge beat the North Texas State Champions, the Northeast Beasts and the Texas State Champions, the Bombs.  The Surge played four games on Saturday, losing the first to Bullet Baseball.  Playing through the loser's bracket the Surge needed four wins on Sunday to claim victory.

Congratulations to the entire team, but particularly to Tanner Huffman and his dad, Stuart, coach of the team.  Take a look at their team picture on our picture gallery.

What a season!
